Bei einer endlosen Leiter weiß man schlussendlich nicht mehr, ob man aufwärts oder abwärts läuft, vor allem nicht, wenn die Leiter auch noch auf dem Kopf steht. Umdrehen ergibt dann auch keinen Sinn. Wenn drei Bewegungen - die Kamera, der Kletterer und der Schnee - miteinander wetteifern, kann man selbst in Schwung geraten, indem man sich mit einer der dreien identifiziert. Da man dabei aber mit zwei Beinen fest auf dem Boden steht, scheint sich das Gebäude, indem man sich befindet, zu bewegen. Astrid Menze weiß das Publikum anzuregen und sich zu seiner Umgebung zu verhalten. Manchmal sollte man still stehen und die Welt unter sich drehen lassen.

On an endless ladder, I find myself not knowing whether I climb or descend, especially if the that ladder is upside down. Turning around makes no sense. While the three different movements - the camera, the climber and the snow - compete with each other, I get carried over by the drive identifying myself with one of the three. But since I still have my feet on the ground, the building I am standing in seems to move. Astrid Menze knows how to motivate her audience to relate to the surrounding. One should stand still sometime and let the world turn around underneath.
